A Belated Housewarming Gift

 

My sister-in-law surprised me yesterday with a belated housewarming gift and a peace offering. She was not able to make it during the house warming party because she has been called home to take care of her father who was sick at that time. She just arrived yesterday with good news that her dad is well. However, she will be leaving again with my niece and brother the day after tomorrow to celebrate her mother's birthday. I am just please that she made time to visit me just to give me my present.

 

Her housewarming gift was a beautiful Square Terrarium - Rainbow Flowers with Keychain. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. It reminds me of the gift I gave to my cousin on her housewarming party which was a  Dino Foot Terrarium - Rainbow Flowers. This Square Terrarium is also filled with multicolored dried flowers. However, unlike the Dino Foot Terrarium, this Square Terrarium is much smaller. I can placed it on my desk or I can use it as a paperweight.  I love the  unique key chain mini terrarium especially. It is also filed with light green dried flowers which are really cute. I can carry it anywhere I go. 

Receiving a Square Terrarium - Rainbow Flowers with Keychain brings back old memories. The last time I received a key chain was during my high school days. My sister-in-law may have seen my collection of keychains.  Otherwise she may have given me something else. It is quite thoughtful of her to give me something for my collection of keychains. Maybe I will start collecting again.

Dino Foot Terrarium, A Unique Housewarming Gift

 

It is my cousin's turn to host her own housewarming party. It is going to be this coming Friday night. It is going to be a small party. She only invited her three best friends and a few of her husband's and our relatives. She does not like throwing parties. If not because of her husband who will be coming home the day before the housewarming party, there won't be any housewarming party to celebrate at all.

With only a few days to look for a unique gift for her, I have scoured every antique stores and gift shops in town. However, none of the items there caught my eye. Fortunately, one of my colleagues showed me an online gift shop which offers miniature gardens. All the miniature gardens are cute and adorable. I love the Dino Foot Terrarium - Rainbow Flowers especially. This beautiful Dino Foot Terrarium - Rainbow Flowers is filled with beautiful flowers in red, pink, turquoise, white, yellow, light green, orange, and purple colors. At first glance I thought they were real flowers. But after reading its description, they are artificial flowers. I am not sure if my cousin will be pleased of the gift since she is the type of person who love live plants. But I want to press luck. I bought the Dino Foot Terrarium - Rainbow Flowers to be delivered at her doorstep with my eyes closed.

I cannot wait to see her reaction when she receive the delivery. I should have asked her what she feels about artificial plants. But then again, I do not want to blow the surprise. I am crossing my fingers that she will fall in love with the Dino Foot Terrarium - Rainbow Flowers just like I did.

Hanging Terrarium As A Housewarming Gift

Man is a social being. We cannot live in isolation for a long period of time. Otherwise, we will end up crazy. Just as the famous saying goes, no man is an island. Although there are some people who can live by himself, but it may have took them a lot of effort to stay sane. That is why we surround ourselves with the friends and love ones. We need them for our sanity’s sake. But aside from our friends and love ones we also need our neighbors. 

Our neighbors are like our second family. Some of them are bothersome while others can drive you insane. But eventually, everything works out fine. Therefore it is important that we should learn to give them importance. We do not need to be necessarily overly friendly with them. However, I do not think it will hurt if you welcome your neighbor in your home especially when you are new in the neighborhood or you welcome your new neighbor in your neighborhood. I admit I am not one of the friendliest in town and I am having problems blending in with other people. But somehow that has changed after being welcomed wholehearted in my new neighborhood. That happened ten years ago when I started in college. I was sad and lonely after being away from my family and friends for the 

first time. 

 

But thankfully, they gave me one of the best housewarming parties. They gave me plants in hanging glass terrariums as housewarming gifts. That was the first time I received plants in hanging glass terrariums as gifts. They are one of the treasured gifts I have so far. Not only that these hanging terrarium globes made my new home look less empty, they also remind me of home where we are surrounded with different types of indoor and outdoor ornamental and flowering plants . This had somehow eased the loneliness I felt during my first few months in my new environment. Whenever I missed home at that time, I just looked at the hanging glass terrariums which I hanged near the window. 

 

According to Hesiod, “a bad neighbor is as great a calamity as a good one is a great advantage.” Thankfully I have such good neighbors. Otherwise I would not have survived my college years in my new environment. 

Decorative Laterns As Gifts For Christmas

A few more days to go and it is already Christmas time. To those who still believe in the Spirit of Christmas, we look forward to lavishing the people we care about with gifts which will remind them of us whenever they look at the gift. We are always looking for a unique type of gift such as personalized items or those gifts which we made ourselves. However, because of our busy schedule it is kind of impossible for us to get our hands on personalizing the gift for our love ones. Instead we choose gifts which are not so common and yet will surely leave a great impression to the person or persons who will be receiving the gift.

Garden gifts such as the decorative indoor and outdoor lanterns and terrariums or glass globes, gift certificates of their favorite stores or clubs, or a potpourri our love one’s favorite things will definitely make a great present. For this coming Christmas I am planning to give my mom a decorative lantern. Recently, she has been collecting different types of lanterns to adorn our living room and garden. I am sure that she will be pleased with the decorative lantern especially with the Oxford Garden Lantern, Victorian Table Lantern and the Boston Sconce Candle Holder which I found online. Either of them will make a wonderful and unique gift for her collection. I already asked my cousin who is great with plants to enclose my mom’s favorite ornamental plant. That will please her even more.

We always say that it is the thought that counts every time we give and receive a gift from someone especially from the people we value the most. However, we should not leave it like that. It really matters if the present we are giving or receiving is not just any present which can be bought anywhere. It should be something that will make the giver and the receiver smile every time they see or thought of it.
